Due to Extreme Heat, District’s Public Testing Sites to Operate on a Modified Schedule on Tuesday, July 21 and Wednesday, July 22
(WASHINGTON, DC) – Due to dangerously hot temperatures, the District’s public COVID-19 testing sites will operate on a modified schedule on Tuesday, July 21 and Wednesday, July 22. Firehouse testing locations will remain closed. Residents are still encouraged to call their health care providers if they are in need of a test.

Wednesday, July 22 Public COVID-19 Testing Schedule

No appointment is needed to get tested at the District’s public testing sites.
Additionally, the District’s grocery distribution sites will reopen and resume their normal hours. Meal sites across the city also remain open for all in need. A list of grocery distribution and meal site locations and hours can be found at coronavirus.dc.gov/food.
Mayor Muriel Bowser has activated the District’s Heat Emergency Plan for Saturday, July 18 through Wednesday, July 22. When the forecast of the temperature or heat index in the District is 92 degrees or higher, the District Government, through the Department of Human Services (DHS) and the Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency (HSEMA), activates a heat emergency as well as cooling centers for residents to seek relief from the heat.
Cooling Centers
Select recreation centers, public schools, and homeless shelters will open as cooling centers each day from 11:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m., or until it has been deemed safe to be outdoors, through Wednesday, July 22. (Washington, DC) – The Metropolitan Police Department’s Narcotic Enforcement Unit announces recent arrests that have been made in cases in the District of Columbia.
Sixth District:
· On Monday, July 20, 2020, members conducted an operation in the 5000 block of Bass Place, Southeast. CCN: 20-104-193. The following person was arrested:
o 45 year-old Dermont Crestwell, of Southeast, DC, for Distribution of Crack-Cocaine and a Bench Warrant.
The Metropolitan Police Department seeks the public's assistance in identifying a person and a vehicle of interest in reference to an Unarmed Carjacking incident which occurred in the 1100 block of Wahler Place, Southeast, on Sunday, July 19, 2020 at approximately 7:55 AM. The subject was captured by a nearby surveillance camera.

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide that occurred on Sunday, July 19, 2020, in the 3600 block of 14th Street, Northwest.
At approximately 4:53 pm, members of the Fourth District responded to the listed location for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located eight adult males and one adult female suffering from gunshot wounds. DC Fire and EMS responded to the scene and transported all of the victims to area hospitals for treatment. After all life-saving efforts failed, one of the adult male victims succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
The decedent has been identified as 28 year-old Devin Peterson, of Northeast, DC.
The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the police at 202-727-9099. Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE by sending a text message to 50411.
