Why You Need GroupMe

All members of Summit County Pickleball Association need to know about our members-only "GroupMe" group-texting.  It's the best way to initiate or complete a foursome needed for an upcoming pickleball session.   

Due to COVID-19, rec authorities aren't allowing organized groups on public tennis courts this summer, which leaves us gathering individually and informally. 

• Frisco Middle School, Carter Park and Dillon Town Park are first-come-first-served all-day everyday, for pickleball or tennis, whoever gets there first. 
• Silverthorne has instituted a reservation system for Trent Park, under which an individual signs up for a single pickleball court for 60 or 90 minutes, bringing along their own foursome. 

For traditional drop-in style pickleball play, show up any morning at Frisco Middle School and put your paddle down.  There are bound to be others wanting to mix it up.  For Trent, Carter and Dillon, you really need to bring your own group.   That's where GroupMe comes in.

Using GroupMe

Ninety-three SCPA members are already in SCPA's GroupMe text group.   To join, email either  administrator, Dana Cottrell (dana@danacottrell.com) or Linda Bush (lindabush99@gmail.com).  We'll send you an invitation via GroupMe.  

Accept the invitation and download the GroupMe app to your phone.  (If you don't download the app, GroupMe will just send you regular texts from our group.  You won't get as many features.)  You'll see a screen like this, showing recent conversations:  

To add your message, just click on the blue box at the bottom and type.  A paper airplane icon will appear at right.  Click on that and your message will go to all group members.  

If you want to join a foursome, or find a 4th, it's best to indicate where you want to play, about when, and about at what level of play.  Once you find partners, please take it offline, i.e., text or email each other individually to make final arrangements.
