KATIA - YOU WILL BE MISSED

It was with tremendous sadness that our skating community received the news of the death of our NSWISA skater, Ekaterina (Katia) Alexandrovskaya.
Katia teamed up with Harley Windsor in 2016, and in doing so became the first Australians to win an ISU Championship, placing first at the 2017 World Junior Figure Skating Championships and then following this up with a first place at the 2017 ISU Junior Grand Prix Final. Katia and Harley went on to represent Australia at the 2018 Olympics in PyeongChang.
Katia began skating at 4 years old when her mother took her to an ice rink. While she would reach international success in ice skating, Katia's childhood ambition was to become a gymnast.
ISA President, Peter Lynch said in a statement "we are deeply saddened to hear of Ekaterina Alexandrovskaya's passing. A brilliant athlete with incredible drive and determination that was nurtured by our friends at the Russian Skating Federation, but then found a new home here in Australia forming an incredible pair skating partnership with Australian Harley Windsor. Together they did what many thought impossible, becoming Junior World and Junior Grand Prix Champions before moving onto the Olympic Winter Games. The partnership was developed with visionary Australian coaches Andre and Galina Pachin. Together they created greatness that will rest in the Australian record books for many years. Our heartfelt thoughts and condolences go out to hers and Harley’s families. The worldwide sport of figure skating mourns your loss."
When not overseas training, Katia was a familiar figure at Canterbury Olympic Ice Rink. Together, Katia and Harley served as wonderful role models for our NSWISA skaters. Katia - you will be missed. Rest in peace.

COVID-19 PROCEDURES FOR COMPETITION
As we embark on our first competition since March, we would like to remind our skaters and families about the expectations when attending competitions
  • Please do not attend if you are feeling unwell
  • Maintain physical distancing at all times
  • Do not arrive more than 30 minutes before you compete
  • Once your competition has been completed, please leave the rink
  • Be aware of rink specific limits for spectators/chaperones
  • Please respect the volunteers and follow their instructions
  • Do not attend if you have visited Victoria in the 14 days prior to the event, or any of the reported case locations listed on the NSW Government website.
Each ice rink will also have their own requirements, so arrangements may change from venue to venue. NSW Government regulations may change over time and as a result, the requirements for COVID Safe competition may change as well.
MUSIC AND PPC SUBMISSION
Music and PPC are a very important part of competition entry. When payment and competitor details are received, the entry is not complete until the music and PPC are uploaded. If there are too many entries for the ice time available for a competition, incomplete entries will be the first to be rejected. Music and PPC submission forms a very important part of each competition entry, and can add extra complications to the organisation of competition when they have not been submitted. Before entering competitions, please contact your coach to ensure that this part of your entry is ready before the closing date of the competition. Remember, both music and PPC's are DUE BY CLOSE OF ENTRIES so if you are having trouble uploading this information, please contact admin@nswisa.com.
