As part of FAO’s "Boosting Koronivia" project supporting the negotiation process under the Koronivia Joint Work on Agriculture, FAO is planning to publish a collection of case studies to showcase proactive solutions taken to support and strengthen the livelihoods of small-scale food producer youth under a changing climate. These include sustainable practices and measures that create or contribute to the social, economic and environmental stability of youth involved in small-scale food production, while facing the impacts of climate change.
You can contribute to this publication by writing a case study (max. 4 pages) about your initiative on one of the following themes:
- Capacity building and education
- Access to land and ecosystem services
- Engagement in decision-making processes
- Access to markets, income protection, generation, and diversification
- Entrepreneurship, technology and innovation
By contributing to this publication, you will increase visibility of your project and have the possibility to inform international policy makers and negotiators on the challenges and successful measures to support small-scale producer youth struggling with the impacts of climate change.
The final case study must be submitted by 28 July 2020 and follow the instructions given on the following webpage.
Please email Koronivia-JWA@fao.org with your submissions or if you have any questions.

UNESCO estimates that over 1.5 billion students in 165 countries are out of school due to COVID-19. The pandemic has forced the global academic community to explore new ways of teaching and learning, including distance and online education. This has proven challenging for both students and educators, who have to deal with the emotional, physical and economic difficulties posed by the illness while doing their part to help curb the spread of the virus. The future is uncertain for everyone, particularly for millions of students scheduled to graduate this year who will face a world crippled economically by the pandemic.
In the COVID-19 and higher education series, United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI) talks to students, educators and researchers in different parts of the world to find out how COVID-19 has affected them and how they are coping with the changes.

Cities are at the center of today’s most urgent crisis, the COVID-19 pandemic. As has been observed in the past, successful achievement of 65% of the 169 SDG targets will occur in cities, and regions -- never has this work been so critical to ensure that we ‘build back better.” Plans for action include innovations across the world from New York City to Nairobi. Speakers are drawn from non-governmental organizations, grassroots, academia, the United Nations and professions. Globally cities are developing Plans for Action due to COVID-19 to support all people - of every age.
