Beloved Parishioners of Annunciation,
Thank you for you patience and understanding as we continue to navigate the reopening process and new protocols in place. We want you to return, but we want it to be accomplished in a safe and organized manner. We ask that those who have pre-existing health conditions and those who are over 65 are requested not to attend services. In addition, if you are exhibiting any signs of illness, even symptoms not related to COVID-19, we ask that, for your own safety and those around you, please do not attend services. If you do not have a mask, please obtain one. Masks are required to be worn at this time when inside the church.
Please click below for the full letter from Fr. James, the Annunciation Parish Council, and the Reopening Committee regarding the protocols and measures being taking to keep our community safe during the reopening of our Parish for worship. That being said, this is an ever-evolving process. When you arrive to church in the coming weeks, there may be certain adjustments that differ from this document so we again ask for your patience, understanding, and flexibility. Those adjustments will be posted by our Parish Council and Reopening Committee and/or announced by Fr. James or Fr. Timothy in church. We will also send out e-mails as we receive new instructions and procedures.
Below you will also find important links including the link to our live stream, information regarding our new broadcasting system, the link to Light a Candle and make a donation, as well as letters from Fr. James and the Parish Council regarding the impact of COVID-19 on our parish.
See below for a new section, Resources from our Hierarchs, for information and statements from our Patriarchate, Archdiocese, and Metropolis.
As always, please do not hesitate to reach out to Fr. James, Fr. Timothy, or Yianni for support, advice, or help. All can be contacted via phone or e-mail (or by contacting the Parish Office).

This past week we received two important state guidance documents about school reopenings, one from the California Department of Education and one from the California Department of Health. These documents will inform our planning and decisions regarding live instruction in the fall. We would like to assure you that we will strictly adhere to CDC and county-specific health directives.
At this point, we plan to begin live in-class instruction on Wednesday, September 2, 2020, keeping the class formations from last year. The decision about class formations is dictated by the fact that our new “teaching normal” did not allow our instructors to evaluate the yearly progress of our students in May. Nevertheless, we wish to reassure you that all of our GS teachers will meet their students right where they are in the fall. Our goal for 2020-2021 is to chart personalized paths for all of our students that will reflect their unique needs, strengths, goals, and pace.
Last, we would like to let you know that, considering that the summer months often mean regression for many of our students, we have decided to purchase an online Greek language program that will provide students in the pre-K – A1 Ellinomatheia classes with the opportunity to practice their vocabulary, grammar, listening, as well as speaking skills. This program, combining online instruction with fun educational games, will reinforce what was taught during the 2019-2020 academic year and ensure that very little will be “lost” over the summer when students do not receive formal instruction.
We need to get your commitment for the next year by July 20, 2020. Once you agree to register, you will pay a $100.00 deposit and will be billed for the remainder in September. Automatically, you will receive a link for your child to log on to the Greek language program for the summer.
We are looking forward to a successful year ahead for our Greek School students!
Best,
Katerina Lagos and Eleftheria Arapoglou

What does the Bible say about Stewardship?
The Bible says we should give without show, give with regularity and proportion, and give liberally. Most importantly, we should give cheerfully. Let’s all remember this as we look forward to a most wonderful year at Annunciation.
Please remember to fill out your pledge cards for 2020!
In Christ,
Stella Dariotis
