Zazen and talk by Lizzie Finn - 'A Drop in the Ocean' - 16 July
When the damage to the environment and climate seems so overwhelming, we can feel paralysed, while carrying a deep ongoing sense of grief and sadness. What can we do at such a time to offer our great care to all beings?

Sangha member Lizzie Finn will offer an online talk on this theme on the 16th of July. The evening will begin with two rounds of zazen from 5.30 pm, AWST, followed by the talk, discussion and chanting.  We will finish at 7.30 pm AWST.

In August, we will meet at St Paul's on the first and third Tuesday of the month (4th and 18th).
On the second and fourth weeks, Ross Bolleter Roshi will offer telephone dokusan on Thursday evenings at 7 pm (on the 13th and 27th).

The full schedule for August is as follows:
  • August 4: Zazen and talk by Ross Bolleter Roshi: 'The dharma of just this', followed by sharing. St Paul's: 6.30 - 8.30 pm
  • August 13: Telephone dokusan with Ross Bolleter Roshi: 7 - 9 pm.
  • August 18: Extended Zazen at St Paul's: 6.30 - 8.30 pm
  • August 27: Telephone dokusan with Ross Bolleter Roshi: 7 - 9 pm.
By September, we hope to make a full return to St Paul's, meeting weekly, including for in-person dokusan twice a month.

COVID safety guidelines and a registration process will be in place. More details will be forthcoming.

Online practice
The pandemic has opened up new opportunities for the group to find ways to practice together online. It has been wonderful to be able to connect more regularly with sangha members from out of town - some of whom have been Zooming in from quite a distance! We want to continue to facilitate online practice in some form or another, even once we return to regular, in-person sitting. One step in that direction will be an online mini-sesshin in September (see below.) If you have feedback or suggestions as to how the group can integrate online practice with its regular activities, please email info@zgwa.org.au.

Annual General Meeting - 16 August at St Paul's and by Zoom
The ZGWA's AGM will be held on 16 August at 2 pm at St Paul's. Formal notice of the meeting and an agenda will be sent to members soon. There will be an opportunity to join the AGM by Zoom for those who can't be there in person. As part of the meeting, the Council for 2020-21 will be appointed. Please consider nominating for Council. Enquiries or nominations can be sent to info@zgwa.org.au.

Online Mini-Sesshin with Ross Bolleter Roshi and Mari Rhydwen Roshi - September 26 and 27
A two-day, online mini-Sesshin will be held on 26 and 27 September. It will include, zazen, dokusan and teishos. The schedule for each day will resemble a Zazenkai schedule. More details will be forthcoming.
We acknowledge  that we live, work and meditate on the unceded boodja of the Wadjuk Nyoongar people, the traditional custodians of this land. The ZGWA pays respect to Nyoongar Elders, past, present and emerging. We are grateful to the Nyoongar people, who have cared for this land for more than 60 000 years, and continue to do so.
