As this goes out to countries across the world, I know some of you will be easing up on lockdown whilst others are still dealing with the ravages of the pandemic. Wherever you are and whatever your situation I hope you are able to stay safe and feel supported by those around you. These are immensely challenging times, but more for some than others – including our kids.

Re-thinking Learning: A Review of Social and Emotional Learning for Education Systems
On Saturday 18th July, UNESCO MGIEP (the Mahatma Gandhi Institute for Peace and Sustainable Development) are launching Re-thinking Learning: A Review of Social and Emotional Learning for Education Systems. Such an important book. I was one of several authors for one of the 8 chapters. The publication will be launched virtually on Nelson Mandela Day with a unique children’s panel titled ‘Do feelings matter in the classroom’. Details on the panel, including the current agenda, are provided at this registration link: https://rethinkinglearning.paperform.co/

Wellbeing in Education New Zealand (WENZ)
The Wellbeing in Education NZ conferences have been re-scheduled to September 13th-14th in Auckland and September 16th-17th in Christchurch, and will take place with real participants in real time and place! I am gutted not to be there in person myself, as planned for the original April dates, but will be presenting via video. More information here: https://www.wenzconference.nz/

There are some excellent resources being developed everywhere for kids at – and out of – school. A resilience and coping framework for children returning has been published by the British Psychological Society.
