In this webinar, Breanna J. McDaniel, author of the picture book Hands Up!, will discuss how to build a sustainable research framework and concrete goals for writing with social justice and equity at the forefront of your work. A sankofic look at youth literature literary traditions that have always supported intensively equitable practices in writing will lead into discussions of contemporary examples that can serve as mentor texts and processes. Breanna is also a doctoral student, a reviewer for Kirkus and ShelfAwareness, and the co-founder of REIYL (Researchers Exploring Inclusive Youth Literature). Come join us!

Revising Like A Pro:
Take Your Novel to the Next Level

a webinar with book editor and author Erica Orloff
  • Saturday, September 12, 2:00 pm ET to 4:00 pm ET
If you're ready to start querying or to self-publish your manuscript, or you just want to know if you're ready, this webinar will show you how to think like an editor. Erica will help you examine character arcs and motivation. She will give you hands-on training for HOW to edit the specifics to see those "a-ha!" moments of what editors and agents are really looking for. You will also learn how professional editors polish your work and what to look for beyond typos. During the webinar, there will be "first pages" lessons which you can apply to your manuscript. This webinar is for adult, YA, and MG writers. Bonus. Erica will provide editing on the first 5 pages for the first 20 people who register!
