Meals for Veterans Program
To Thank Veterans for Their Service
Started July 1

A grant from Meals on Wheels America and a gift from Loyal Christian Benefits Association made a new project possible.

On July 1st, 8 Veterans began receiving nutritious meals for one year. These Veterans are over the age of 60 and were referred to us by local social service agencies. The Vets will receive both the light meal and the regular meal 5 days a week by our caring volunteers.

The work is already underway to find the funding to continue this program for years to come and to expand it to allow us to help more Veterans. We have already begun a waiting list of Veterans in need.

Save the Date! August 11th is

Right around the corner is the Annual Erie Community Foundation's Online Signature Event to raise funds for Erie Area non-profits. Show your support for Meals on Wheels Erie on Erie Gives Day!

Your donation of $25 or more will receive a prorated match from The Erie Community Foundation. Donate online on August 11th 8am - 8pm at www.eriegives.org. Donate by check by August 10th with checks made payable to Erie Community Foundation and mailed to 459 West 6th Street, Erie, PA 16507. Please designate: Meals on Wheels Erie.

Golfers Needed!

Date: Monday, September 14, 2020
Location: Beechwood Golf Club
Registration: 10:00 am with Shotgun Start 11:00 am

Planning is underway! We will roll with the Pandemic challenges and everyday adjustments! We are looking for golfers and sponsors. Please call our office (814-452-6930) for more information or see our Facebook page for event details.

2020 Volunteer Appreciation Event
A Sweet Treat Drive-Thru

On July 8th, we gathered at the Erie First Alliance Church with signs of appreciation, sweet cupcakes from Crumb Cakes Bakery and hearts full of gratitude. Volunteers were cheered as they drove through by Board Members led by Committee Chair Mary Temple. As part of the celebration, door prizes and service awards donated by Giant Eagle were handed out.

It may not have been our traditional lovely, sit down luncheon, but in the middle of a Pandemic our creative Board of Directors and Staff pulled off a memorable event to thank our dedicated volunteers.

Celebrates 10 Years As A Volunteer

Karen Benko (pictured above with Wendy Wallace, Exec. Director) has volunteered for Meals on Wheels Erie for 10 years and also served as the organization's bookkeeper for several years. An incredible lady and a wonderful volunteer. Thank you Karen!
