Interest in Antibody Testing: Action required by Friday 17th July

The following information has been received by Community Pharmacy Lincolnshire today (Wednesday 15th July). We realise that the timelines given are quite tight, but at this stage this is simply a request to support the CCG with estimating demand.

Message for all Pharmacy, Optometrists, and Dentistry staff

You will be aware from the news that a little while ago Antibody Testing was launched for NHS staff and we are now in a position to offer this test for all Pharmacy, Optometry and Dentistry staff across Lincolnshire. The capacity to undertake the tests is dependent upon the availability of lab testing capacity.

Across Lincolnshire, as in many other areas there is limited lab capacity. We are therefore trying to ascertain what the likely demand is for us to ensure we can secure sufficient lab capacity and equipment to support this for staff wishing to have the test.

If you would like to have an antibody test then please send an email to lccg.stafftestingreferrals@nhs.net by Friday 17th July 2020, clearly marking your email ‘Antibody Testing’ and detailing whether you would be able to attend on a week day or would require a weekend appointment, once we have determined the required capacity we will work on scheduling the arrangements to undertake the tests.

The tests will be conducted at Cross O Cliff Court, Bracebridge Heath in Lincoln, please note we are unable to offer alternative venues.

We would also like to remind you that this is not a definitive test and the purpose of the test is merely for personal interest and data gathering at present; there is no implication for the employer/employee in relation to the results at this stage, the presence of antibodies does not confer any immunity; and all existing social distancing and isolation requirements must continue to be adhered to.

Pharmacy Quality Scheme Details Announced

A new Pharmacy Quality Scheme (PQS) for the first part of 2020/21 has been announced this week. The focus of the scheme is ensuring community pharmacy contractors and their teams have put in place all reasonable measures to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic, protecting both themselves and the people using their services.

This incolves reviewing activity which many contractors have already undertaken, as well as completing relevant risk assessments.

£18.75m is being made available for this scheme and all contractors meeting the requirements can claim a payment of £1,630 via the NHSBSA’s Manage Your Service (MYS) portal. Claims via MYS can be made
between 14th July 2020 and 23:59 on 29th January 2021

For more details, see the PSNC website

Certificate of Confirmity Requirements

Just a reminder that in May 2020 the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) made some adjustments to the Drug Tariff to incorporate new arrangements in light of the COVID-19 pandemic response.

One of the changes was that Pharmacies are no longer required to submit copies of the Certificate of Conformity (COC) or Certificate of Analysis (COA) to NHS England & Improvement team of the prescriber after dispensing unlicensed specials or imports not listed in Part VIIIB of the Drug Tariff (the ‘Specials Tariff’).

Contractors are still required to keep the necessary records of unlicensed specials or imports they dispense; any COCs and COAs obtained should be retained by the pharmacy for a period of five years.
