Parking Lot Sunday Service
Sunday, July 19 at 9 am
We are excited to announce our very first Parking Lot Service on Sunday, July 19th at 9 am. While this will be an abbreviated service, our intention is that it is a true celebration! The live service will be transmitted to your car radio over an AM station. (The online service at 10 am will also be available as usual.)
We have presumed some questions and prepared a FAQ sheet for you.
Please know that the requested protocols are based in our best understanding of sound public health protocols and guidelines. Also, by living within these protocols, we live into what it truly means to “love one another as we love ourselves.” Our goal is to provide a service of celebration as safely as possible.
In summary:
- Staying in your vehicle is encouraged
- Sitting outside your vehicle is allowed, but wear a mask or face shield and remain at least 6 feet from others and 18 feet from the minister and musician.
- Sing in your vehicle only. If your windows are down, wear a mask as you sing.
- Wear a mask when speaking through your open car window
- Only run your engine if necessary for comfort.
See the FAQ's here: unitycr.org/parking-lot-service or Download FAQs
Please read the FAQ's, as they will expand on each of the points above.
If you have any other questions, please contact us.

July 19, 2020 | Sunday Lesson via Livestream
“Tents and Tabernacles”
In this time of physical distancing and separation, we are a spiritual community residing in different tents. However, we dwell within the same spiritual space and consciousness –the heart of God. We dwell in God and God dwells in us, through us, as us. Our Jewish siblings celebrate Sukkot (the Feast of Tabernacles) each year as a reminder of their sojourn in the wilderness where they relied solely on God to sustain them and deepened their identity as a community. During Sukkot, each family builds a sukkah (a temporary tent-like shelter covered in natural materials) where they enjoy meals and often sleep. Just like the sukkah, the present experience of life during COVID-19 is temporary as well, and we are finding lots of ways to connect and deepen our sense of community as we live together separately. However, let’s gather in our own tents and tabernacles to celebrate and acknowledge that we are a vibrant community guided and sustained by God.

Spiritual Enrichment, Education, and Development (SEED) Funds Available
Unity Center of Cedar Rapids (UCR) is a thriving community of engaged people who share a passion for spiritual growth. Dedicated funds are available to provide a vehicle for active UCR members who are committed to transformation through spiritual enrichment and education. These funds financially support and empowering UCR members in their quest for Spiritual Enrichment, Education, and Development (SEED). In doing so, the consciousness of our spiritual commUnity and the world is strengthened and expanded. Eligible programs/activities must provide spiritual enrichment and education. These activities include Unity sponsored classes, retreats, and other opportunities for leadership development. For more information about the Spiritual Enrichment, Education, and Development (SEED) program, please contact Rev. Debra Carter Williams by calling the center office or email her at minister@unitycr.org.

Elayne Fisher Community Cupboard –
Circulation in Action
We have recently received many funds dedicated to the Elayne Fisher Community Cupboard, which means they cannot be used for any other purpose (like operating expenses). We are so grateful for these funds, and we joyfully and generously share with those in need. If you or someone you know needs some assistance, we welcome you to our pantry on Tuesdays from 10:00-12:30. Spread the word!

Many Ways to Give!
During these unprecedented times, you turn to UCR for a positive message and help centering and focusing on Good. Even though we are meeting virtually for a while, we still have to pay our minister and staff, as well as our mortgage, insurance, maintenance, etc. Your consistent gifts are welcome and appreciated.

Thank you for keeping your prosperity consciousness intact. There are many blessings around us, in us, and through us, and many more to come!
