NCASS LIVE - Finance Focus - The Hospitality VAT Cut

Coming up next on our Tuesday webinar, we'll be joined by The Catering Accounting Company's Andrew James to discuss the temporary 5% VAT rate announced by government.

The new measure will cover the period from 15th July 2020 to 12th January 2021 and is aimed at the hospitality industry, most specifically business premises such as pubs, cafes, restaurants and takeaway establishments.

Temporary VAT - An Outline

The Catering Accounting Company has issued further guidance on the Government's announcement to temporarily reduce VAT rate supplies to 5% during the Coronavirus pandemic.

Number of "no-shows" reignites industry calls for deposits

This week it emerged that the owners of The Mariners pub in Cornwall were left “disappointed” after 27 guests failed to turn up to a booking.

Following the closure of hospitality businesses for weeks on end during the peak of the Coronavirus pandemic, coupled with repeated calls from the wider industry to implement a deposit system, the news will come as a disappointment to many food and drink businesses up and down the UK who fear the fall out effect that repeated no-shows will have on their livelihood.

Eat Out to Help Out - What you need to know if you're eligible

The Government announced this week a new initiative aimed at helping restaurants and eateries recover as we ease out of lockdown. 

The scheme will be available for those of our members who have a fixed site premises and are offering dine-in meals. Businesses will be able to sign up to the scheme to enable customers to receive 50% off their meals, with the government footing the bill for the second half of the cost.

The Catering Accounting Company has released further information regarding who is eligible for the scheme and how to apply.
