Dear Friends,
I hope this email finds you well and safe. We are in a moment of profound social change and hope that the anguish of this time will result in a brighter and more equitable future. Through the struggles of Covid-19, Black Lives Matter and the global economic meltdown, Build a School in Burma has been fortunate to be able to continue making progress in Myanmar and to even expand our school building program there.
So far for 2020, BSB has completed 3 new schools and has 12 more in various stages of development. We owe this progress to the tireless and Covid-19 aware efforts of our Country Director Naing Lin Swe, the volunteers that keep BSB running, and especially to the generosity of our donors, who have continued to support BSB's work to expand educational access despite the uncertain times.
Seven of the new schools are either expansions of primary schools to include middle school grades, or middle schools to include high school grades. This supports BSB's initiative to enable children in remote places to be able to remain with their parents and families longer while continuing to attend school. Currently many children either drop out or must board away from the safety of their family homes to attend higher grades.
Thank you all for your tremendous support,
Bob
