Our Photo of the Month for July features a militarized 945 on display along with two other oscilloscopes. We believe this is the Beaverton site but we have no idea of the occasion or why the women are pointing to parts of the 945. The 945 was introduced in 1961 and they held an Open House at Beaverton as late as 1968. Perhaps these are employees pointing to their area of expertise. Contact the museum if you recognize any of the individuals or know the occasion or location.
We continue to get requests to scan microfiche and paper manuals. We charge a research fee for scanning and upload the scanned manuals to TekWiki. We have moved from an hourly rate to a per-page rate to make it simpler and more predictable. Details are on our Printed and Microfiche Manuals page.
We recently acquired a Type 121 Preamplifier. The first Tektronix oscilloscope, the Type 511, had limited vertical sensitivity. To achieve greater vertical sensitivity the 121 preamplifier was developed provide up to 100X gain from 5 Hz to 12 MHz. It is displayed with our Type 101 Video Calibrator and the 511 Oscilloscope.
We've recently added two Employee Stories by Hale Farley. Hale started at Tektronix in 1973 as the SPS (Signal Processing Systems) Marketing Engineer and later moved to the field in Santa Clara.

Tektronix Measurements of EMP (electro-magnetic pulse) describes his experience with the R7912 Transient Waveform Generator for recording phenomena related to nuclear detonations and electromagnetic energy. Project Trestle in New Mexico was one such test site utilizing 26 R7912 instruments. We also republished his story Tektronix R7912 Programmable Transient Waveform Digitizer which was first published in the Nov 2012 Tektronix Retiree News.
Tektronix held a Family Night on the Beaverton campus on October 1, 1958. The October 1958 TekTalk issue covered the event which was expected to draw over 5,000 employees and family. We used the
"green worm" photo as our June Photo of the Month. Also shown was a photo of a display of oscilloscopes with lettered plug-ins. Below was a poem written about that plug-in. We've extracted portions of the photo and created a PDF of the plug-ins and poems on our October 1958 Family Night page.
We recently added an undated 1950s 12 page Engineering Report. It features updates on dual beam development, and various products such as the 310, 360, 515, 570, plug-ins, and new cabinet design. It's a great insight into early product development, research, and those engineers involved.
Last month we shared a photo of people in front of the Sunset Plant building and asked for any identification. Later we found a May/June 1956 TekTalk article which identifies them as a group of exchange students hosted by Jack Day. Not surprising, we received no replies.
