As we all discover the new normal of social distancing, we hope this term's list of key dates, ideas, tips and resources will help you guide your pupils through any losses or concerns to a place of safety, security and stability.
Spiritual: September 2020 will be the first time many of our children will have returned to school in the past 6 months. A top priority for all educators will be to ensure a smooth a transition back to the classroom as possible this will include nurturing the health and wellbeing of our pupils. Jigsawphse has created a free after lockdown recovery pack for KS1 and KS2. Included in this pack is one assembly and 6 PSHE lessons for the Autumn term. Topics include: belonging & feeling safe; fears & worries; being positive and looking forward to learning and many more. Download the free recovery pack here: https://www.jigsawpshe.com/recovery/

Moral: With our world ever changing over the past 6 months, the topic of injustice and the fight for equality is at the fore front of our minds.  Educate Together have created a bank of resources including lesson plans and activities covering a range of topics linked to inequality and justice. In addition, the Twinkl website has many ready-to-go resources that can also support this topic.

Social: For many children the last couple of months have been completely out of the norm. So, this first term after Covid-19, social interaction, rebuilding relationships and reconnecting friendships will be important. The Big Think have provided a great free resource comprising of 4 sessions entitled ‘Circle of Care’. This resource  aims to help children come together and rebuild relationships and friendships after lockdown. To receive this free resource just sign up with The Big Think.

Cultural: In October this month we celebrate Black History Month. This year Spinnaker is producing a fantastic Black History Month activity pack so keep an eye out on our website. The National Literacy Trust and BBC also provide great resources to support Black History Month in the classroom.
