This week we focus on our U13 CUDL and CWCL Teams.
The U13’s have had a good season so far competing at the highest level Mainland has to offer, the Canterbury United Development League (CUDL). I have been impressed with how the boys have performed in the league coming up against much bigger and physically stronger opposition. The team are physically one of the smallest in the league but make up for it in technical ability and attitude and compete in every game. The experience they are getting in this grade will serve them well as they get older and I look forward to seeing them progress.
The team entered the Christchurch International Cup this week playing some really good football, finishing strong in 5th place with wins over SAS, Cashmere Tech and Nomads. Good job by coach Warren Dunnick, manager Alistair Sim and all the players. It was also great to see all the support the team got from their family and friends. The boys play away at Selwyn on Saturday, 9.15am at Foster Park
Our Canterbury Women’s Championship League (CWCL) team is in its second year and after a hard start have come good this season playing some good football and picking up points. The team is coached by UC student Ahmad Yosef who is in his first year with the team and is extremely dedicated to helping the players develop as individuals and as a team. The side has a mixture of young and experienced players and is captained for a second season by Stephanie Barbier. This week the girls take on Universities at Ilam Fields, 10.15 KO.
