A VIRTUAL EXHIBITION

Our first one is now live on mainefiberfolio.com. Take a look at this shiny new online display of almost 100 images showing off the work of 28 feltmakers hailing from New York to Maine. The worldwide pandemic changed many of our plans. We had to cancel a scheduled gallery show of felted work from members of the Northeast Feltmakers Guild, but when NEFG members were asked to send in photos of their work instead, they stepped up. "Outside the Circle" is the result. Many thanks to Carol Jones and to Kris Sandoy for their work to make this virtual exhibition happen.

HOME WORK

Members and friends are sending in images of work they've created while home to answer a request we put out some weeks ago. Images of gardens, baked breads, historical clothing, yarn bombings and fiber work are coming in. We were stunned when Susan Ferraro of Artisan CSF on Bailey Island sent in two of her latest hooked rug treasures. Susan is preparing for a show of her work that would have taken place at Rug Hooking Week in Ohio this August, now postponed. Show us what you're making! Send two or three images to carol@mainefiberarts.org  Here's a look at the Home Work we have so far.

Above: "Sunset Callingl" by artist Susan Ferraro. Susan hooks with wool but often incorporates unusual materials in her pieces. This piece has 23 different dyed grey yarns that are hand hooked plus some 3-D conch wool felting.

Below: Christine's cat Bella snuggles up to wool during morning coffee and knitting.

MAINE SUMMERTIME

Summer is in full swing minus our lovely gatherings. Peas, foxgloves, hollyhocks, rain, roses, zucchini, growing lambs and summer-time swims. Miss our visitors!

THANK YOU TO ALL NEW AND RENEWED MEMBERS!

Several members are new to us and many are long-standing supporters. Thank you all! Your support makes our projects and networking possible. Send images of your work or send news so we know what you're up to.

CHRISTINE HEADS NORTHWEST

Maine Fiberarts' director is converting this old cargo van into a photo/fiber camper for travels around Franklin, Somerset and Piscataquis counties (to begin with). We seek fiber farms, artists, shops, and learning centers who are new to us and doing good work. Send suggestions and recommendations!
Christine's husband donated his old van to the cause. These are the "before" photos.
Dick is a house painter and carpenter. Oogie as he cleaned it out, but lots of great shelves and space.

NEW WORK FROM MEMBERS

A piece by Jill Snyder Wallace.

JOELLE WEBER

Some of her work is also offered for sale in our online Art Shop.

ARLENE MORRIS

We created a slideshow of Arlene's work for USM. See it here.
