I'm smiling behind the mask!
This morning I had to go to Walmart to pick up a prescription. As usual when I meet folks, I always smile in greeting.  So I'm smiling the whole time I'm in the store and duh --it hit me--no one knows I'm smiling because of my protective face mask!  So I'm learning to wave or call out louder than usual (remember the face mask muffles your voice) a warm greeting to those I meet.
And while I'm on the subject of smiling --I want to share with you some things that cause me to smile:

-I heard on our local radio station's Swap Shop that someone needed a wheel barrel and she specified "ASAP".  The next call was a gentleman who needed the phone number for the caller--he had a wheel barrel.  (Neighbors helping neighbors!)

-I had several folks that needed flour last week and (there was no flour to be found). I mentioned it to 2 friends from one our UM churches --the next day, 2 sacks of 12 lb. flour showed up on my doorstep! (Neighbors helping neighbors!)

-Kendra Powell, pastor of the New Hope Charge has been sewing masks like crazy for those who need them. (Email her at kendrapowell@vaumc.org) (Neighbors helping neighbors!)

-And lastly I want to lift up the volunteers and committee workers of the Covid-19 response to assist those neighbors in Accomack and Northampton counties who are most vulnerable. Shore Delivery Corps is a community effort to assist our at-risk community by offering complimentary delivery service of groceries, prescriptions and other medical supplies to your doorstep. (Neighbors helping neighbors!)

-and one more thing I have to smile about...
My pup, Molly.  She's having a hard time with social distancing but she's really trying!

"6-feet social distancing remains important to slowing the spread of the virus.  The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)  is additionally advising the use of simple cloth face coverings to slow the spread of the virus and help people who may have the virus and do not know it from transmitting it to others.  Cloth face coverings fashioned from household items or made at home from common materials at low cost can be used as an additional, voluntary public health measure." --CDC

CDC has sewing instructions available for making home-made face masks: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/downloads/DIY-cloth-face-covering-instructions.pdf
