Our Study of the Gospel of Matthew through the Easter Season continues on Wednesday at 9:00, in our homes through Zoom. Each weekly lesson stands alone, so you can join us at any time.
We have read the Introduction to Matthew, attached, and the Scripture passages, Matthew 1 – 6:18. We will read Matthew 6:19-10:42 before we gather this Wednesday Morning. Click here for our summary/commentary for this week’s lesson.
If you would like a little more about this book, read the attached introductive commentary to this gospel account.
I look forward to our time together learning through Scripture, and sharing our experiences. I expect our visits to last about 1 hour.

See our New Banner in front of the church!
The banner was created by Miriam Casey.
Hutch Gibb had the lawnmower repaired, with Sam Garcia providing the labor for sprucing up the grounds.
Charlie Buff groomed the garden with flowers.
All of these beautiful love gifts are in thanksgiving for our neighbors.
|
|
One of our parishioners at St. Patrick's found the new banner so inspirational she decided to make her own sign and hang it outside her front door!
This goes to show how we can all do our part in sharing God's peace & strength during this time.

Canticle of Brother Sun by St. Francis
Most high, all powerful good Lord,
to you alone belong all praise, glory and honor.
No one on earth is worthy to speak your name.
Praise to you, my Lord, for all your creatures,
especially Sir Brother Sun,
who brings us the day and gives us light. How beautiful he is, how bright all his glory.
Praise to you, my Lord, for Sister Moon and the Stars.
You have set them in the heavens, clear and bright and fair.
Praise to you, my Lord, for Brother Wind
and for the air and cloud and all weather
by which you nourish all that you have made.
Praise to you, my Lord, for Sister Water,
who is so useful and humble, so precious and pure.
Praise to you, my Lord, for Brother Fire,
by whom you light up the night.
How beautiful he is, how fair and merry and strong.
Praise to you, my Lord, for Sister Earth, our Mother, who feeds us and produces all sorts of fruit
and colored flowers and herbs.
Praise and bless the Lord.
Give him thanks
and serve him with great humility.

PLANNED GIVING MINISTRIES MESSAGE
We are now going into our sixth week of Sheltering-in-Place and have had to
live our lives in a new, and often unusual ways to stay safe.
As a parish family we have had our first "Virtual Easter" where all services were on YouTube thanks to assistance and funds from Bishop Megan and the Episcopal Diocese of Northern California. Although certainly not the
face-to-face experience with one another, our clergy, and choir that we would wish, it was good to be able to practice our faith.
We are re-learning to do many of our former activities in new ways. Our daily lives go on, even while we may be feeling stressed and anxious to some degree about the future. Our church is here for us, and we will continue its ministries and tasks in new ways since our need for our ministries is greater than ever.
A rare gift this time of Sheltering-in-Place is providing us is to finally get around to doing some things we've been meaning to do. Many have said they have gotten around to cleaning the garage, organizing cupboards, trying new recipes, etc. This might include working on your estate planning.
For some this could be a useful time to dig into the Life Plan workbook many of us received when we attended the Life Plan workshop last year presented by the Episcopal Foundation of Northern California. Sometimes opportunity arises out of challenging times. Let's make the most of it.
We have a few Life Plan workbooks remaining so please let us know if you would like one mailed to you.
The Planned Giving Ministry members include Laurie Boone-Hogen, Chair, Stephanie Chapralis McCaffrey, and Ann and Alex Peters.

Closing Prayer
Let us Pray:
Almighty and everlasting God, who in the Paschal mystery established the new covenant of reconciliation: Grant that all who have been reborn into the fellowship of Christ’s Body may show forth in our lives what we profess in our faith; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you in the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
