Hello!

Dear friends,

Happy Easter to you all, remember that Eastertide lasts 50 days - so 50 days more chocolate for us (just what we need right now) - not that I'm the Vicar of Dibley or anything! (Click here to see the Vicar of Dibley's notices during lockdown: https://youtu.be/En58VidqeS8).

I've been a bit out of the habit of sending these weekly newsletters (everything has been so up in the air!) so I'm going to try and start it up again just to keep us connected.

This Sunday I would like to try using Skype for an 'after service coffee time'. At 11am, click on this link here: https://join.skype.com/jirlvTbLxQUm to join the call with I hope as many of us as can manage it. You do not need to have Skype on your device, clicking on the link is like coming into the meeting room (it works in a similar way to Zoom but I have chosen Skype as it is a bit more secure). So hopefully see some of you there on Sunday morning from 11am.

Next week I am going to be sending out another newsletter in the post. I am doing this especially for those who do not have the internet, I sent the first edition to everyone I had an address for. If you would like to receive it and haven't yet, please email me and tell me your address. If you would prefer not to receive it please let me know as it will save us some money.

Speaking of money, if you are not signed up to our Parish Giving Scheme (which enables you to give to church by Direct Debit, thereby helping us while things are 'cashless' and taking away a huge admin task for us) please email me with your address and I can post out a form to you. We really need to receive your continued donations to our ministry to ensure our church keeps going through this tough time.

Below is a roundup of some highlights from our website and social media this week that you may have missed.

See you online soon, every blessing,

Bryony

Let us pray:

Keep us, good Lord,
under the shadow of your mercy
in this time of uncertainty and distress.
Sustain and support the anxious and fearful,
and lift up all who are brought low;
that we may rejoice in your comfort
knowing that nothing can separate us from your love
in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Amen.

A Simple Guide to our Worship During the Pandemic

During the pandemic we are trying to provide ways for you to pray and worship from the comfort of your home. Here is a quick guide:

Daily Prayer

Access our daily prayer podcast by visiting these pages for the latest episode: http://bcjj.org.uk/worship/listen-to-sermons/ or directly from https://anchor.fm/bcjj (you can find us on Spotify and other podcast providers).

Alternatively, download and print out this prayer booklet to use at a time to suit you:

Live Said Eucharist on Thursdays

Every Thursday there is a live Said Eucharist on our Facebook Group at 7pm (approx 20 mins) which is also broadcast on our website here (so you don't have to be on Facebook to take part): http://bcjj.org.uk/category/thursday-eucharist/

Print off the order of service to follow along:

Join us for Online Spiritual Communion on Sundays

Every Sunday a prerecorded video service is available on our website from 8am here (approx 30 mins long): http://bcjj.org.uk/category/sunday-service-online/

On Sundays you may like to tune in to Facebook live at 10am for my notices and then join the Facebook watch party so that we can all watch Sunday's service together. This all happens in the Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/bcparishes. The notices are also broadcast on the church website and you can watch them after broadcast at any time.

Listen to sermons

To listen to just the sermon from Sunday’s service you can dial 01246 388487 (local rate call) or visit: http://bcjj.org.uk/worship/listen-to-sermons/ to listen online.

Please tell people who do not use the internet about our phone service - they can ring any time of day or night (because it is a recording) and if they get bored they can hang up and I'd never know! A new sermon goes up every Sunday morning.
