To Survive Melancholy
Dear Friends & Music Lovers
I hope you are keeping well. When the lockdown started and Bach Club had to suspend all concert activities, I started streaming music on YouTube. Every week I present a piece or two from baroque music repertoire and play it on the harpsichord, from my home in London.
Since the measures of social distancing are not likely to be lifted soon I will endeavour to carry on playing these "concerts" and I hope they will help you keep your spirits up, as they help keep mine!
The title of the series is taken from a work by a 17c. composer Johann Jakob Froberger who wrote a lamentation To survive melancholy while visiting London, and you can hear that piece and the story behind it in the first episode of my series.
Please join me every Friday at 7.30pm (BST) to watch a short live performance on YouTube, and if you can't, you can catch up on all the episodes at any time.

Tonight I will be playing a beautiful and warm Passacaille from Bauyn Manuscript by Louis Couperin.
Previous episodes:
1. JJ Froberger - Pour passer la melancholi
2. J Blow - Ground in ELaMi
3. N Bruhns - "Great" Praeludium in E minor
4. JS Bach - Italian Concerto
Thank you to everyone who watched for your encouraging comments and thank you for your support.
I hope to "see" you at the concert!
With best wishes
Pawel
