In the midst of the frustrations of "stay-at-home" orders and unresolved unemployment claims, and the anxieties of catching COVID-19, there are those persons who make our situation even worse -SCAMMERS.

These scammers are dangerous predators.  They prey on the young, old and weak. Beware of offers that seem "too good to be true" as they probably are scams.  Beware of providing any personal information online or on the phone as hackers and scammers collect that information to steal your identity or hack your accounts.  Beware of those "fun" polls on FB asking about your "favorite this" or "favorite that" as they may not be as harmless as they seem.  The information collected can be used to hack your bank accounts or open up new accounts. Below is information to help you avoid these predators.  It is up to you to protect your children and your elderly parents from these evil-doers.

In addition, our office continues to receive multiple phone calls and emails about your difficulties in applying for unemployment assistance during this pandemic crisis.  We understand your frustrations and may be able to assist. Our office can help!  Please email us at bob.rommel@myfloridahouse.gov and provide us with the following information:  Full name; birth date; telephone number; email address; claimant number; and brief description of the problem you are having. We will submit the information to the Legislative Affairs Constituent Services upon receipt.

Please continue to be patient as the State is working hard to resolve the situation and relieve your anxieties.

Phased Re-Opening of Florida
Governor Ron DeSantis is very aware of the need to re-open Florida and its businesses.  It's a very delicate balance between limited the spread of COVID-19 and Florida's economy.  the Governor has established a Re-Opening Florida Task Force Executive Committee to determine the best process for re-opening Florida's economy.  In addition to the Executive Committee, there are working groups focusing on tourism, construction, real estate, recreation and retail, and transportation.  A list of committees and their members can be found at www.flgov.com/2020/04/22/governor-ron-desantis-re-open-florida-task-force.

Once the order to re-open is announced, it is extremely important that we are careful and follow procedures.  Be cautious, but not fearful!!
BE SURE YOU ARE GETTING ACCURATE INFORMATION.

The most trusted source of information on COVID-19 on Facebook is the Florida Department of Health (FDOH) and the Center for Disease Control (CDC).
