Elizabeth writes: Welcome Luke!
On April 4th, at 8:07 am, Luke Nathaniel Munn entered the world! He weighed 7 lbs. 7 oz., and is healthy and strong. We praise God for this incredible blessing!
The past few weeks have been a little crazy. We planned for my (Elizabeth’s) mom to come for a couple weeks around the due date to help with the birth. However, we weren’t counting on COVID-19. None of us got sick, but flights were getting changed or canceled right and left, and we really weren’t sure if my mom would make it here. Then we were told that, after arriving in Thailand, my mom would have to be quarantined away from us for 14 days, during which time we were not allowed to have any contact with her! So, we arranged for her to stay at a nearby hotel, we waited, and we tried to figure out what we would do without my mom if I went into labor.
Well.... 14 days came and went, and the baby still had not been born! I was a week and a half overdue. Mom finally came to stay at our house on Thursday, we went to the hospital Friday evening, and the baby was born on Saturday morning. The birth was difficult, ending in an unplanned c-section, and I’m so glad my mom was there. She had to leave right away — her flight out was Sunday night, the day after the birth, and we couldn’t delay because we weren’t sure if she’d be able to get out of the country if she waited longer! Flights were still getting canceled all the time, and Chiang Mai airport was no longer offering international flights, so we weren’t sure if she would make it home. But God made a way, and she got back to New York without too much trouble.
It was pretty stressful for a while, but now things are very peaceful. Robin’s office is closed due to COVID-19, so Robin is working from home. Danny loves his new little brother “Luke-baby” — he finds him endlessly fascinating. I’ve recovered quite quickly from the c-section, and am doing really well. And Luke is a great baby! He’s rarely fussy, and he’s a pretty good sleeper. Since all our meetings and events have been canceled, we have all the time we need to stay home, rest, recover, and focus on the baby. As we pray for those around the world affected by COVID-19, we praise God for keeping us healthy and safe, and blessing us with new life.
How are all of you? We know that COVID-19 is affecting people’s lives in a million different ways, and being in Thailand, sometimes we’re out of touch with what’s going on back home. Whether this pandemic has caused you difficulties, changes, or major struggles and hardships, let us know how we can pray for you during this time.
