LCMA Events Canceled

The Lowry Community Master Association made the difficult decision to cancel all scheduled Summer 2020 events. These include:

Lowry Annual Yard Sale - May 29-31
Concert and Family Movie Night in the Park - June 12
National Night Out: Concert and Movie Night in the Park - August 7
Family Movie Night - September 11

If you've been cleaning out your house in anticipation of the yard sale, this news story has some good information about how you can safely donate to Goodwill and find a donation location. For those looking to buy, sell, or donate gently used kid's items, there is the Lowry Kid's Swap Facebook page

A decision about Halloween events will be made on or around September 1st. Please stay safe and we look forward to seeing you in the parks in Summer 2021.

#GivingTuesday and the #KeepLowryStrong Relief Fund

Today is Giving Tuesday:  please consider donating to the Lowry Foundation's #KeepLowryStrong Relief fund, which provides mini-grants to neighbors in need. The fund has raised over $14,000 to date and is granting to its 11th recipient this week, assisting with rent and mortgage payments, utilities, medical bills, and groceries. For more information on the fund, visit the Lowry Foundation website.

Denver Library Live Storytimes

The librarians are still hard at work! Visit their youtube channel for all kinds of video content, including live storytimes broadcast three times a day, five days a week.

Local Restaurants Feeding Healthcare Providers

A number of our Lowry restaurants are providing meals to area healthcare workers. You can easily contribute when you order your own meal.

When you order online from Woodgrain Bagels, you can make a donation, that Woodgrain will match, to send bagels and spread to a hospital or team of first responders.

Lowry Beer Garden, North County, and Officers Club are all working with Denver Feed It Forward to send meals to healthcare workers--your $10 donation when you order covers a boxed lunch.

Walter's 303 has delivered towering piles of pizza to multiple area hospitals. Check with them to coordinate donations.

District 5 Paving Plan for 2020

From Councilwoman Amanda Sawyer's office:

"Several roadways in District 5 are set for improvement this year, as indicated on [this map]. Before work begins, adjacent homes will be notified and 'No Parking' signs will be placed on the street. The City asks that residents make every attempt to move their cars for this work to occur - cars left on the street when work begins will be moved, normally within a two-block radius of where the car was parked. Residents who need help locating their cars can call the City’s non-emergency line at 720-913-2000 for assistance. With parking is in high demand given the COVID-19 work from home recommendations, residents will not receive citations if their cars need to be moved, until further notice.

All work is weather-dependent and schedules are subject to change. Visit this website for a weekly update and full description of each roadway Treatment Type mentioned on the map's legend."

Vitalant needs donations!
Vitalant needs donors to come out in force over the coming weeks to ensure patients have the blood they need as they work to stabilize the blood supply in the wake of COVID-19. FEMA, the CDC and the Surgeon General have all identified blood donation as an essential health care activity, and donations are necessary to keep patients safe in our community and beyond. Make an appointment to donate blood, platelets, or plasma.
Lowry Coronavirus Help

Have you heard about the Lowry Coronavirus Help Group? They are a group of neighbors helping those affected by COVID-19 in many different ways. Check out their Facebook page to learn about the things they've been doing. If you need help, or want to help, please email Paul Vranas.
Plots are available at Ekar Farm!
You can have your own 10x10 plot in Ekar's Community Garden. Visit their website for details and the application form. The fee is $72 for the growing season; Ekar is considering reducing or waiving the fee for situations of financial hardship. The garden is open Sundays - Fridays, until dark; water gets turned on May 4th.
Snakes are awake! Keep an eye--and an ear--out. This news story has a good reminder overview of where to expect to see snakes and how you should behave around them. Please exercise caution and awareness when enjoying any open space such as the Kelly Road Dam area, Westerly Creek open space, or any open or native area.
