Greetings to you from all of us at Powerhouse Print.

Times are...strange. For some of us, work is full steam ahead and we’re busier than ever — especially with kids (and significant others!) at home instead of school, adding to our workload (both mental and physical!).

For others, life often seems to have ground to a halt. Some days are like this, right?
Whatever situation you find yourself in, we’re sending you lots of positive vibes and share your hopes that things will start trending back to normal as soon as possible.

What About the Pivot?

Let’s face it: there’s a lot of pressure right now to skill up, to create, to “take advantage of this time”. Have you felt it?
If that’s the only upgrade you’ll have when this crisis is over, it’s okay. You’re managing a constant, sometimes-imperceptible level of stress and anxiety as even your subconscious works overtime trying to solve the unsolvable: when will it be over?

However.

There is power in the pivot.

Yes, it’s true that many ways of doing business are off the table right now. Goodbye to trade shows, working lunches, and many of the other tried-and-true ways of interacting with customers and clients. But, sometimes with a little thinking outside the box, we can move our business in a new direction.

Need some inspiration? Here’s how four Powerhouse Print clients are harnessing the pivot to both maintain and grow:

  • Glenda Polak from CapriceWest Consignment shares how she’s driving sales through the use of FB Live videostreaming as a shopping channel. Even though her store is closed, she goes through her stock in the videos and offers curbside pickup or local delivery.

  • Wild Prairie Soap is part of the #accessiblesoapforallcampaign. To date, they have donated over $3000 worth of soap to organizations in need. They are also now beginning to produce hand sanitizer.

  • The Italian Centre Shop moved to include free home delivery and curbside pickup, so that customers can still get all of their favorite ingredients and prepared foods — especially while so many people are brushing up on their cooking skills and buying from local small businesses to support the economy.

  • Since Womanition has had to cancel all of their in person events, they have moved to a more frequent online version.  Every Tuesday and Thursday from noon – 1:00, they unite women across the province to network and hear from experts on how they can change their businesses in these uncertain times.

Connect with a Captive Audience

Do you find yourself running to the mailbox these days? We never would have thought that the daily trip to get flyers, bills and the occasional surprise card or letter would come to feel like an actual excursion. Hey, at least it’s going somewhere!

Now that almost everyone is working from home, mailed advertising is reclaiming the throne as the king of connecting with your customers. Has it been awhile since you’ve done a print promo? Maybe there’s an opportunity for you to pivot a little — and reach out to both current and prospective shoppers and clients. We’ve got ideas and we’d love to help you keep moving forward.

This Month's Featured Product: Feel-Good Greeting Cards

Let’s be real here: does anyone really want another one of those “we’re here for you” emails? (This one doesn’t count though. We hope. ☺)

On the other hand, as we mentioned earlier, that daily trip to the mailbox is a chance to get outside — and an opportunity for you to connect in an authentic way with your customers and clients. To that end, we’ve teamed up with Shauna at Madsen Avenue to create a little something you can use to brighten up their outings to retrieve the mail. Can’t you just picture their little jumps for joy when it’s not another bill or piece of junk mail?
