Last year, we saw thousands of visitors at our historic sites and events. We met with hundreds of you about your preservation priorities and issues that concern you. We helped thousands of school kids develop a love of history through field trips and school visits. That feels like ancient history now, but in a way, we're busier than ever. Though we're working at a distance, our staff is committed to fulfilling our mission and delivering our services digitally. Like many museums and nonprofits, the temporary closure of our historic sites and postponement of in-person programs has had an adverse affect on our operating budget. As a result, an emergency Giving Tuesday initiative was announced to help nonprofits "bridge the gap" during this time of crisis.
Your support during these difficult times is critical to the continued preservation of the places you love. Your donations directly help us to:
- Create educational resources for students at home
- film virtual tours of our historic sites
- offer educational webinars on people and places throughout Virginia history and preservation best practices
- continue our advocacy work and review of issues that affect historic sites throughout Virginia.
You can learn more about how your support is critical now more than ever by visiting this special page on our website. We wish you and your family well and look forward to seeing you in person again. In the meantime, your support on Giving Tuesday allows us to continue creating educational resources and engaging content like what you see below:
