Resources for Learning about Gender Equality (SDG #5)

Hello <<First Name>>,

There is no time like the present to address the many global challenges we face. GPA is committed to fostering the United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals. We have already completed SDG #5 and are looking forward to partnering with globally-minded organizations to promote many more. Join us in our celebration!

Did you know...

This year marks the 100th anniversary of U.S. women’s right to vote

with the ratification of the 19th Amendment in 1920.

Today, women make up 23.7% of the U.S. Congress

even though 50.8% of the U.S. population is female (2010 Census).

Globally, women make up 24.2% of national parliaments.

These numbers are increasing, but there is still much to be done.

The United Nations created the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to provide a blueprint for collaboratively working toward global peace and prosperity. These 17 goals are a call to action. Learn more on the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals Knowledge Platform.

SDG #5 promotes gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls in all aspects of global society.

Educating ourselves, our students, and our children is key in advancing gender equality both locally and globally. Global Philadelphia Association has put together the following list of learning resources for you.
