Are you: OVERWHELMED LONESOME STUCK?
Today, (what day is it?) burnout and stagnation are commonplace, and we’re trapped in a frantic echo chamber of information, evidence, facts, and rules. Over and over and over. We are being misguided and misled, in equal parts, by panic and ennui. And it drowns out so much else.
What is panic?
A strange time-traveling emotion, where one experiences some anticipated future as if it’s the present.
What is ennui?
A lethargic boredom so complete as to render us catatonic.
I ask: Where does it come from? I ask: Whose is it? I ask: What else is there?
There is an itching for a bend or break in these days that limp along on, bleeding into one another, dazedly. What day is it again? When will things go back to normal? Will they ever? Should they?
When we’re afraid of the unknown, of the uncertainty, we become trapped in it. We are drunk on panic, and ennui is our hangover. Over and over and over again, we become, chained, enslaved, and addicted to the cycle.
But here’s a freeing little secret: this uncertainty is the only thing certain. And here’s another one: uncertainty is exciting.
