P&G Distribution

Earlier this year we highlighted in our Quarter 1 Newsletter that we began distributing P&G purifiers of water through our Community and School WASH Promoters. The distributions of the purifier sachets has been progressing well despite the challenges brought upon by the COVID-19 pandemic. The P&G solution is provided as a bridge to using water filters. Often, community members take 1-2 months after training to get money to acquire our water filters. In the meantime, they struggle to make their water safe for drinking. With the collaboration with P&G, through our partner Transform International, community members and schools can start drinking safe water from Day 1 of interacting with us and transition to the more sustainable water filters when they are ready.

In April alone, we have distributed P&G sachets to 9,450 households in Nyamira and Bomet Counties, impacting at least 47,250 people. This will come in handy especially in this period of Covid-19 when families need more time to raise money to purchase longer-term solutions such as water filters. Through 151 Community WASH Promoters trained and supported by ACK, each family additionally received training on hand-washing. Each CWP was supplied with a face mask and trained on precautions they need to take in light of Covid-19.
