New online programs for May | April 30, 2020
Thoughtful reading activities that deepen family connections

Prime Time Family Reading is a 6-session program during which time we read aloud and then we discuss the books, their themes, and insights. The books cover themes such as fairness, dreams, courage, and cleverness.

This gives your children (ages 6–10) a chance for a reading boost while spending quality time as a family. Our librarians and community partners have lead these family book discussions many times, and parents and caregivers are always amazed to hear the insights their children bring to the conversation.

Helplines and crisis resources

The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) has put many people in a state of crisis. Crisis covers many aspects of life: financial, emotional, physical, and mental, among others.

If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic abuse, having suicidal thoughts, struggling with addiction, struggling with mental health issues, or in need of support, there are resources and people you can turn to for help during this stressful and uncertain time.

Help exists for those in need and those who are vulnerable. We’ve gathered a list of national, state-wide, and local resources for help in times of crisis and need.
