Community Action Works!
SUCCESS COACHES – Supportive Services
Success coaching is an educational process that significantly enhances the economic achievements of individuals. Digging a little deeper into the definition, it helps individuals both to define and achieve realistic financial goals faster and with greater ease than would otherwise be possible. Ashley and Shashta's stories of success are an inspirational representation of how #CommunityActionWorks.

Ashley Scott - Dental Assistant
Ashley Scott was referred to Charlotte Area Fund for training through a partnership with the Ada Jenkins Center in Davidson, NC.

Ashley had previously worked as a massage therapist for 11 years. She said that in her 9th year she developed arthritis in her hands, which affected her productivity and the number of clients she could work with.  Only in her early 30’s, Ashley said that the arthritis went away after she stopped doing the job that she loved. “In high school I knew that I wanted to be in the medical field, but didn’t want to go through years of school.”  Her deeply religious family didn’t think that a career as a masseuse was a good idea. However, after her mom’s first massage, she realized that the profession her daughter chose was actually healing people. Read More

Shashta Geter - Nurse Assistant
On November 4, 2019, Shasta Geter took a step outside her daily routine in pursuit of enhancing her skill set.  As a stay-at-home mom for many years, she felt it was time to focus on her dream of becoming a Registered Nurse.

She demonstrated sheer determination as she completed all of the necessary steps for programmatic entry to Charlotte Area Fund.  Ms. Geter had also completed a Nurse Aide certification years prior; however, her career goals came to an abrupt halt after having children.  Read More

Client testimonial Spotlight
I just want to start off by thanking all of you at Charlotte Area Fund for believing in me and investing your time in me as well. Before joining the program I didn't have a plan for the next 5 years of my life, neither did I know what career I wanted to pursue. Thankfully you all helped me find a career that I'm passionate about, and one I can advance in.

Classes like work readiness and the computer classes really furthered my knowledge and skills on how to be the best I can be, as well handling situations at work and at home. You guys have resources like no other and I'm very grateful to have received support and assistance. I've been rewarded with tools and most importantly a Universal EPA Certification that can provide a better life for me and my family. Again thank you and I look forward to hearing from you all in the future.
Justin Johnson received his Universal EPA certification and is now employed with RKW Residential
