COVID-19 MOVE TO LEVEL 3 UPDATE

Dear Parents / Caregivers,

Thank you to those parents who have advised that their sons need to be supervised at school under Alert level 3, from next Wednesday. We will communicate directly to these parents with specific details of the strict health measures that will be in place for the limited number of boys who will be on site. During this time NO other students from any year level are permitted to be on the school site. The school office will be closed for the community.

The role of the college is to provide supervision for students who need it  - to enable essential workers, and other workers to return to work, as well as students whose parents/caregivers' personal circumstances mean this is essential.

Thank you to all parents who are in a position to continue to enable their sons to continue their education at home and follow the key message from the Government to "stay home, and work and learn from home if possible".

As previously advised, online learning will continue to be the method by which teaching and learning will be delivered to our students until Level 3 is reviewed and we are advised otherwise.

  • No online learning on Monday 27th April - Public Holiday (ANZAC) and Tuesday 28th April  - Teacher only Day (MOE). Lesson preparation by teachers.

  • Wednesday 29th April -  online learning continues for timetabled classes.

Tomorrow April 25th is ANZAC day. Under normal circumstances, we would have recognised this at today's Principal assembly and our Prefects would have represented Tauranga Boys’ College at the Civic ceremony in Memorial Park and other venues across Tauranga Moana. Obviously we are not able to do so, however, you and your son may be interested in joining in recognition across Aotearoa to pay respect to those who have served our country in conflicts across the world.  Prefects will post details on the Tauranga Boys’ College Instagram page and this link Stand at Dawn  has details of how ANZAC day will be recognised nationally tomorrow.

I look forward to the continued decline in the number of COVID-19 cases and deaths across the country and the gradual removal of the restriction of movement and activities presently in place. Then in the future welcoming all our boys back to the college where they can enjoy the company of their friends and teachers.

I wish you all an enjoyable weekend, the last under Alert Level 4.

Robert Mangan
Principal
