Pride Banner Fundraiser

Our plans for an in-person Pride event in June unfortunately have to be cancelled, due to the pandemic. But there's an alternate plan to celebrate Pride by creating some banners for the streetlights in Arlington Center. The cost for the banners are $350 each and we'd like to get 8 or more, for a minimum total cost of $2,800. As this is beyond the available budget of the Rainbow Commission, we'd like to ask for the help of community. Please consider sponsoring a banner for $350, or make a smaller donation of $200, $100, or other amount to go toward the banner fund.  These will be used for years to come. Donors will be acknowledged on the Rainbow Commission website. Please note if you wish your donation to be anonymous. To donate, please send a check to:

We’ll be meeting via Zoom – email Rob at rlorino@minlib.net and you will be sent the Zoom meeting link close to the time of the meeting.

“A powerful cultural touchstone of modern American literature, The Color Purple depicts the lives of African American women in early twentieth-century rural Georgia. Separated as girls, sisters Celie and Nettie sustain their loyalty to and hope in each other across time, distance and silence. Through a series of letters spanning twenty years, first from Celie to God, then the sisters to each other despite the unknown, the novel draws readers into its rich and memorable portrayals of Celie, Nettie, Shug Avery and Sofia and their experience. The Color Purple broke the silence around domestic and sexual abuse, narrating the lives of women through their pain and struggle, companionship and growth, resilience and bravery. Deeply compassionate and beautifully imagined, Alice Walker’s epic carries readers on a spirit-affirming journey towards redemption and love.”
