Update from Lake District Calvert Trust: Covid-19
Shut down of our centres
Due to the Covid-19 virus and government guidelines, we have had to temporarily close all the Calvert Trust facilities near Keswick including our main Calvert Centre, Hydrotherapy Pool, Calvert Stables and Calvert Reconnections.
Visitor Bookings
We were so sorry the planned breaks for our disabled visitors had to be cancelled; we are working with them to reduce potential losses and reschedule visits wherever possib
le.
Securing the future of our Trust
We are taking every step possible to ensure the Trust weathers this crisis, looks after its staff as well as being ready to re-open as soon as current restrictions and our finances allow. Our annual costs exceed £1.5million, with two thirds of our income generated from subsidised visitor fees, which has now ceased. We are cutting costs to the bare minimum. We have retained essential staff to ensure we can re-open swiftly.  Most of the other staff are being supported through the Government Furlough scheme.
You Can Help
Our beneficiaries need your support now more than ever. We are working hard to fill our funding gaps and ask if you would consider supporting the trust at this difficult time. Any donations you are able to make, to help continue our service for them and to ensure we reopen as soon as possible, will be hugely appreciated. Please donate through our website or contact our fundraising team to arrange a BACS payment which will reach us without delay or any extra charges.
Keeping in Touch with our Friends & Supporters
During these periods of self-isolation, this is even more important to us all. Please keep in touch whether by email, following our Social Media feeds or signing up for our Calvert Catch Up e-news.
Supporting our local community
We are also keen to assist our local community, offering our facilities for use where needed and we are working with various external bodies to identify the best way to provide support.
We THANK YOU wholeheartedly for your continued support and hope that in the months ahead you stay safe and well.

News
New Aid Call System
We are delighted to have received funds from HAROLD & ALICE BRIDGES CHARITY for a new Aid Call system. Due to its age, our old Aid Call system didn’t offer our guests all the modern functions, but in March it was upgraded to improve the safety of our visitors. The system allows guests to raise non-emergency & emergency alarms.
An Anniversary Month
March marked some big milestones for the Calvert Stables for two staff members & one of our ponies. Our dedicated groom Becky celebrated her 20th anniversary of working at the stables. whilst we welcomed the arrival of both Prince the pony and Lou, our Riding Instructor, on the same day in March, 15 years ago.
London Marathon ~ 4th October 2020
Although this popular event has been rescheduled, we are happy to say that all our runners confirmed they are still up to run the London Marathon later in October for Calvert Lakes. Six additional months to go, to train to their best, plus more time to fundraise for Calvert Lakes. Please support their fundraising!
Sport England Award
Following storm Ciara, the stream running behind our sports hall overflowed, causing significant damage.  We applied for funding to install flood resilience measures to prevent similar damage & disruption in the future. We are happy to say we’ve received a £3,380 Lottery Award that covers the cost of the project. Find out how to support us.
Make it easy for your friends and family! If you have all you need, instead of a gift suggest a donation to Calvert Lakes. You can set up a FACEBOOK FUNDRAISER & make a huge difference for your birthday
Whether you need to buy a gift or essentials for home while you are self-isolating, don’t forget to register on easyfundraising, or Amazon Smile to support a very worthy cause!
