Regional Highlight: University of Toledo GLOBE Mission EARTH

GME-UT Professional DevelopmentGLOBE Mission Earth at the University of Toledo (UT) has been very active in a variety of areas.  It received funding from NOAA BWET to study the Great Lakes region. The project is entitled: Great Lakes Student Research Campaign: Engaging Students and Teachers in Authentic Watershed Studies. UT will be working with Dr. Amanda Gilbert (Defiance College), Dr. Mitch Klett (University of Northern Michigan), and Dr. Michael Jabot (SUNY-Fredonia).

The GLOBE team from the University of Toledo partnered with the AREN Project to present a session at the Michigan Science Teachers Association’s Annual Conference.  As part of an effort to deliver virtual professional development, team member Dr. Kevin Czajkowski and a NASA educator presented a remote session for teachers. There have been several other webinars as well.

2020 SRS Update

Upload Report IconThe United States GLOBE Student Research Symposia (SRS) will not be held this spring due to COVID-19. The next in-person Student Research Symposia will be held in the spring of 2021, at the same locations as the 2020 events. While it is no replacement for an in-person event, we would like to honor the progress and dedication of students working this spring on SRS projects. There will be an opportunity for students to receive feedback virtually. Projects uploaded by May 1, 2020 to the GLOBE website and tagged with SRS will be reviewed by STEM professionals who will leave comments on the project page. We also invite GLOBE students to participate in the peer review process.

What if teachers/students cannot make that deadline? Can students upload projects any time? Have more questions? Please see our SRS 2020 COVID FAQ.
