Amid COVID-19 crisis, Lassa fever kills 188 Nigerians

A total of 188 persons have so far died of Lassa fever in Nigeria this year. This is coming at a time the world, including Nigeria, is battling the spread of the dreaded coronavirus. According to a report by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, the casualty figure was recorded between January 1 and April 5, 2020.

COVID-19 death: UITH extends probe panel deadline

The University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital has extended the period of the sitting of it’s 10-member committee set up to investigate an alleged professional misconduct against it Senior Consultant, Prof. Kassim Salami, to two weeks to enable the panel to take the account of it’s workers in isolation.

IMF to Nigeria: deploy $3.5b loan to healthcare, education funding

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has advised Nigeria to deploy the $3.5 billion emergency loan being processed for the country to strengthening infrastructure in the health and educational sectors. Nigeria has applied to the IMF and African Development Bank (AfDB) to access $3.5 billion in concessional funding to support the 2020 budget.
