Elections

THE FOLLOWING POSITIONS ARE OPEN FOR NOMINATIONS

Commissioner-is responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of the league. The Commissioner presides over all formal meetings of the membership and board and serves as the official delegate to NAGAAA.

Secretary-is responsible for maintaining an official record of the By-Laws and Rules of Play. The Secretary keeps the minutes of the meetings of the Board, the membership, and of the Managers’ Council. The Secretary manages player and team registration for the league and maintains a record of all members of the League and their respective contact information.

Public Relations-serves as the spokesperson for the League, primary trustee of the league website and approves all league communications (other than the Board). The PRC oversees publication of the league newsletter and approves all advertising/marketing materials. The PRC coordinates sponsorship and 501(c)3 compliance with the Treasurer and SFC.

Fundraising/Sponsorship-coordinates all League fundraising activities with the teams and members of the League. The FSC is liaison between the Team Title Sponsors and the Board, coordinates with the Treasurer and the PRC to secure corporate sponsors for the League and coordinates with the MALs to secure team sponsors.

Member at Large (2 positions)-serve as liaison between their teams and the Board. MALs assist the Secretary in maintaining current and accurate team rosters, assist in training new managers, and ensure that all player and team dues are paid. MALs assist the CC in ratings distributions and assisting teams to secure title sponsors with the FSC.

COMMISSIONER

Cassidy Cryer

I’m Cassidy Cryer and I’m running for the position of Commissioner for the MSLA. I joined the league in 2013 and it has provided me with a sense of community and family and for that, I have wanted to give back. I have worked extremely hard over the last 7 years and taken on more responsibility every year. I started as a manager and have also been a coach. I have served as Recruitment Day Chair and Opening Day Chair and served on the Statistics Committee. In 2016 I joined the Board of Directors as the D Division Coordinator and for the last 3 years have served as Competition Coordinator. In that role I have attended the NAGAAA meetings, representing Houston and I am currently the Chair of the Fundraising and Sponsorship Committee. Through my experience and dedication, I can lead this league into the future and continue our growth. I’m a proven leader who gets things done and know that I’m the best candidate to represent Houston and NAGAAA and I’m asking for your vote.

Terry Newell

I joined MSLA in 2012 as a non-playing member fan of a friend's team. Over the years my role with the league has grown as well as my circle of amazing friends. I've managed several teams and am now finishing my first term with the Board. I've enjoyed assisting teams in the Member At Large position and hope to continue to serve the league for another two years!

Clay Zakarian

As the newest face to the board of directors, my name is Clay Zakarian and I am seeking your vote to continue my time in an organization I passionately love. As a current member at large, I have worked with team managers to ensure a smooth start to the 2020 season. Given the circumstances of COVID-19, I need additional time on the board to fully make an impact. My ears are open to change and I will never hesitate to take all sides into consideration. I am here for the membership and would love to continue my time on the board of directors and hope you will vote for me!

PUBLIC RELATIONS COORDINATOR

Chris Hunckler

With a little encouragement from a friend, I joined MSLA in April 2015. I’m so thankful I made the leap and couldn’t be happier. Over the 5 years as a member, I’ve enjoyed the team atmosphere in league, World Series, tournaments, and met some amazing people and made lifelong friends along the way. During my time as a member of the league, I’ve served on the Ratings, Recruitment, Opening/Closing Ceremonies and LSC Committee. As a Board Member, I’ve served as Member at Large assisting managers and teams during league season and World Series, and now serving as the Public Relations Coordinator. I’ve enjoyed my time as a member of the league and Board of Directors, and would appreciate your vote to continue representing the league as the Public Relations Coordinator.
