Earth Day Interview with the First Church Boston Social Justice Committee

Join Mary Lou Mclean, Rosemary Keane, Daniel Lawlor and Tiffany Lin for conversation on First Church’s work for Social Justice, UU principles and what we can do to support climate justice on this Earth Day and beyond. As Rosemary reminds us, the late Carole Chinman, long active as a leader in Social Justice at First Church, would say "We need your energy and your presence!"

Rosemary offers a meditation from the Book of Isaiah, Chapter 58,
"To Loose the Fetters of Injustice" _

Is not this the fast that I choose-

To loose the bonds of injustice,

to undo the bindings of the yoke,

to let the oppressed go free,

and to break every yoke!

Is it not to share your bread with the hungry,

and bring the homeless poor into your house,

when you see them naked,

to cover them,

and not to hide yourself from your own kin?

Then shall your light break forth like the dawn,

and your healing shall spring up quickly.

If you remove the yoke among you,

the pointing of the finger,

the speaking of evil,

if you offer your food to the hungry,

and satisfy the needs of the afflicted,

You shall be like a watered garden,

like a spring whose waters never fail."

May our Earth Day be every day!

Daniel Lawlor
