HERO Yearbook
I have some exciting news to share with you, the annual HERO yearbook is being printed this week. It will be ready for you to purchase on Monday, May 11th and Tuesday, May 12th at HERO (Crossroads Church). If you want to pre-order and reserve your copy of the yearbook, place your order by emailing Jayne Wahlberg with the number of yearbooks you want to purchase. Yearbooks that are pre-ordered will be $25. The remaining yearbooks will be sold on a first come basis for $28 on May 11th and 12th.
Gibson Testing
HERO is offering the Gibson test, administered by Learning RX on-line. The Gibson test measures the performance of the following key cognitive skills: short-term and long-term memory processing, speed auditory processing, visual processing, logic and reasoning, and word attack skills. The report you receive will give a detailed look at individual cognitive strengths and weakness in each of these areas. The test also measures IQ. The reason to take the Gibson exam is to identify weak skills so that your student can be strengthened through brain training. Cost of the exam is typically $100. HERO members are being offered the test for $25 (must be age 5 and up, adults welcome).

Once you have completed the on-line registration, please send payment of $25 to HERO. When HERO confirms payment, Learning Rx will assign you a Gibson test and email the log in information (to each individual family). This will be done manually at Learning RX, so the link will be emailed out 1-2 days after confirmation of registration and payment. The deadline for both registering for the assessment, and completing the online assessment is May 31st, 2020.
Returning to Classroom vs. Not Returning to Classroom
HERO will follow the Forest Lake school district recommendation on students returning to the classroom for the remaining of the school year. At this time, this information has not been formally finalized.
Schedule of Events
Currently we have scheduled the following dates and times for the student performances. All the following dates are subject to change:
1. HERO music recital for jazz band, choirs, and piano students is scheduled for Thursday, May 14th from 6:00 – 8:00 PM. The recital will be divided into two separate performances. The jazz band and piano students will be in one performance hour. The choirs will have the other one-hour performance time slot. This recital will be held at Hosanna Lutheran Church in Forest Lake. Your child’s instructors will be able to give you more details.
2. The HERO dance recital is scheduled for Sunday, May 17th at 4:00. This will include both the Monday and Tuesday dance classes. This will be performed at Crossroads Church.
3. HERO Drama classes will perform on Monday, May 18th at 6:30 PM at Crossroads Church. There are student rehearsals scheduled for the two Saturdays before plus all day on May 18th. See Randy Gamer for more details regarding the additional rehearsal times.
4. The Graduation Class of 2020 will have its’ graduation ceremony on Tuesday, May 19th at 7:00 PM in the Sanctuary at Crossroads Church.
HERO Class Schedule and Registration for 2020-2021
Schedule and Registration for upcoming school year will be posted on the HERO website on May 1st. HERO members can register between May 1st and May 14th. Beginning May 15th non-HERO can begin registering for classes.
