A Message From Tom Marks...

Co-parenting with your former spouse can be difficult in general. Doing so during a pandemic may seem overwhelming and nearly impossible at first. With so much uncertainty in our world right now, many of us are faced to adapt to a new normal. If you are struggling to navigate life as a co-parent given our current circumstances, know that you are not alone. Former spouses across the country are being met with specific timesharing guidelines depending on their region of residence.

While we cannot control the impact of the Coronavirus where co-parenting is concerned, we have the ability to set an example for our children. Perhaps your timesharing has been interrupted due to the pandemic. We encourage you to utilize alternative methods to keep in touch with your children. Don’t underestimate the value of a telephone call. Other resources you might consider include Skype, FaceTime, etc. Virtual platforms offer the opportunity to remain connected even from a distance. When exploring virtual options, we encourage you to become familiar with security measures in order to protect the privacy of your families.

The duration of the Coronavirus remains unknown. By social distancing and following Stay at Home Orders, we continue to flatten the curve. Implementing these practices may seem isolating, but it is important to remember that we are all in this together. There are many resources available, including therapy through telecounseling. For more information on mental health, visit our Therapists Corner Column.

Should you have any questions regarding timesharing procedures at this time, I invite you to read our featured blog below.
