Regional Highlight: New GLOBE Initiatives at Queens College

Peter SchmidtGLOBE Partner Peter Schmidt started two initiatives this year that he is particularly excited about. The first is a pilot program to train a cadre of high school teachers to use GLOBE resources and methods to teach a college level research class in their high schools.

The other initiative is a summer science program, based on GLOBE research, for students in the College’s College Now Program for high school students. The classes will be modeled on what students experience during a GLOBE GLE and will build skills and confidence so that they can present a culmination of their research to a large audience.

2020 SRS Update

'Upload your research report' iconThe United States GLOBE Student Research Symposia (SRS) will not be held this spring due to COVID-19. The next in-person Student Research Symposia will be held in the spring of 2021, at the same locations as the 2020 events. While it is no replacement for an in-person event, we would like to honor the progress and dedication of students working this spring on SRS projects. There will be an opportunity for students to receive feedback virtually. Projects uploaded by May 1, 2020 to the GLOBE website and tagged with SRS will be reviewed by STEM professionals who will leave comments on the project page. We also invite GLOBE students to participate in the peer review process.

What if teachers/students cannot make that deadline? Can students upload projects any time? Have more questions? Please see our SRS 2020 COVID FAQ.
