People of Faith,
Along with many other difficult decisions that have been made over the last month due COVID-19, we have come the decision to reschedule our church retreat that was originally scheduled for May 1st and 2nd at Jumonville camp and retreat center. We are saddened about this decision but know that it is the best way to ensure our health as we expect social distancing to continue into May. We are currently hoping to reschedule the retreat for sometime in the Fall 2020.

We are currently planning a virtual event for May 2nd for our church to still gather around a common purpose and learn together. We will have a learning opportunity beginning at 4PM, followed by a virtual Love Feast at 5PM, and concluding with a time for personal sharing about how the Holy Communion Project has helped you grow as a disciple of Jesus. A ZOOM link conference call will be emailed to the congregation. We encourage you to let Pastor Ben know if you wish to attend.

It saddens me that this means that I will not be able to attend this retreat. Originally, I had hoped for this to be a time when I could fellowship with you all in a special and unique way as we sought to grow closer to God and to one another. Though I will not be able to be a part of this retreat, it is still my prayer that all of you take advantage of when the next one occurs so that your faith may be deepened and enriched.

God is good. All the time. God is good when we approach his presence at the Lord’s Table. God is good when we hold out our hands in submission to receive the body and the blood. God is good when we sing the songs of praise and gratitude for his sacrifice. God is also good when our church is separated for a while, when we explore new ways of being church, and when we struggle together through cancellations, layoffs, and uncertainty. God’s goodness is the thing I encourage you to hold on to, a goodness that is displayed and remembered in Holy Communion. Allow this time of separation and distance to only make you hungrier for his presence, so that the next time we gather at the table, we will cry out in joy.

In Christ,
Pastor Ben
