CORONAVIRUS RESOURCES

Although the physical Center remains closed, our students, faculty and staff are working hard (remotely) to further our mission of connecting technology and community. We've published a Coronavirus Resource website to assist our Philadelphia neighbors with connecting to the Internet in a cost-effective manner, particularly for distance learning.  Need to know how to use your phone as a hotspot or need access to low cost Internet service?  Visit our website for more information.
2019 ANNUAL REPORT

2019 was another year of major milestones and advances for the ExCITe Center. Read about the accomplishments of our students, faculty, staff, and partners in our 2019 Annual Report.
NOW
INTRODUCING OUR SPRING 2020 CO-OP STUDENTS!

This month we welcome our Spring-Summer cohort of co-op students (virtually) to the Center! ExCITe co-ops play a huge role in our research activities and year-round education and outreach programs.
  • Simran Chatani and Vanessa Munley join the team as our STEAM Education Assistants.
  • Elrod Owusu-Asumeng, Miyo Imai, and Tianna Williams are our Creative Technologists.
  • Tammy Ogunranti joins the team as the ILLEST Lab Manager.

HOW ARE YOU STAYING CREATIVE?

We are not letting the coronavirus keep us from being creative and enjoying the creative work of others!  Take a look at these fun and exciting projects our faculty and students are working on during this time of physical distancing.
  • Penn-Drexel Minecraft Project - Drexel students are big contributors to a massive project started by U. Penn students to build out both West Philly campuses within the video game platform Minecraft.
  • MET-lab Virtual Jam Session - In lieu of our in-person musical jam sessions at ExCITe, members of the Music Entertainment Technology Lab jammed virtually last Friday to produce a version of The Beatles' Octopus's Garden. Originally intended for our (cancelled) Family Science Night, we hope it adds a bit of whimsy to your day!

Summer Programs Update

We still hope to offer our annual Young Dragons and Summer Music Technology programs this summer. Our team is busy preparing new content and activities for both programs, while also investigating the possibility of offering virtual resources. Applications remain open for both programs. The ExCITe Center will always comply with State, City, and University guidelines, and we will immediately notify applicants in the event of any program changes.
We hope you and your loved ones are staying healthy and safe in these challenging times!
