Register now for Race Forward's Webinar #RaceAnd Pandemics: COVID-19 and global diseases through a structural lens.

The racialization of Covid-19 is not new and in fact continues a pattern present throughout the history of the racialization of diseases and pandemics in the United States.

This webinar will use a systemic racial analysis to dig into the structural roots of the racialization of global diseases. We will look at examples in history of when diseases have been racialized to show that:

1. The racialization of diseases is rooted in structural racism - in interconnected policies, practices, institutions, culture, and ideologies that disenfranchise Black and Brown people.

2. The racialization of diseases advance systemic racial inequities that cause long term harm to generations of Black, Indigenous, and POC (BIPOC) persons and their communities.

The Building Racial Equity series, developed by Race Forward, are interactive trainings for those who wish to challenge and change institutional racial inequities. Building Racial Equity: Foundations is the first and “foundational” training of the series. This training will introduce participants to concepts, frames, and tools that are essential to a productive racial equity practice. Participants will build on and strengthen racial equity practices for themselves, their organization, and their networks.

If you work with organizations and communities that are seeking to build racial equity within and across institutions, then we would like to invite you to check out our Building Racial Equity (BRE): Foundations training series.

Virtual training will happen on May 5th.
Scholarships are available as needed and upon request. Email us at bre@raceforward.org to inquire about our scholarships.

In the News

The Case for Racial Equity in Aging Has Never Been Stronger.
Given that older adults and people with serious medical conditions are at greatest risk of COVID-19 complications, this raises pressing questions. What are we doing to support older people of color, who might be disproportionately impacted by this outbreak? And why does COVID-19 disproportionately impact the health of older people of color and their paid caregivers, their direct care workers?
Coronavirus has hit Black people hard nationwide.
Many people have called the coronavirus a “great equalizer.” But while the virus might not discriminate, the impact on different communities is far from equal.
