Virtual Junior Ranger

Do you want to earn a Junior Ranger Patch from home while the parks are closed? Here's how:
1) Go on our website and print the activity book.
2) Check out these pages for activities that you can complete at home:
About the Park (page 4): Use the park's main webpage to help you answer these questions. Each park has information in the links on the right side of their main website. (Pay special attention to the History, Ecology, park photos and video, and the Park Fact Sheet links.)
About Park Rangers (pages 6-7): You can email a park ranger to ask them these questions. The park's email address is also listed on their main park website. You don't have to retype the questions that are already listed in the activity book, but don't forget to ask them the question that you're supposed to come up with yourself.
Park History (page 8): Once again, there should be a link with some information about the history of the park on their main website.
Water (page 10): You can view a park map on each of the park's main websites. Use that to answer the questions about the water basins and major body of water.
Learn in the Park (page 16): You can view virtual programs and hikes on our Youtube channel, or if you have Facebook, many park Facebook groups or Park Friends group pages have virtual programs and hikes available too. Find one to watch and answer the questions.

3) If you complete all of the above activities you will have earned 19 acorn points. Get the final point by writing a poem about the park or drawing a picture of the park using the photos and information found on the park's website. You can also explore the park on Google Earth or though our virtual tour for inspiration.

4) Mail in or scan and email your activity book with the completed activities and your park poem or drawing. Once again, the mailing address and park email are found on each park's main website. Be sure to include a return mailing address so park staff can mail you your park patch and certificate! Your poem or drawing will be included in a future Junior Ranger Newsletter.
