Ode to Work Lesson Series
by Sarita Talusani Keller, Artmobile Educator
This lesson accompanies the Artmobile exhibition, At Work and At Play.

An "ode" is a poem usually in praise of something. Follow this weekly series to create an art book to house a cinquain, or 5 line poem, in praise of the work and play that impacts our daily lives.

Join Sarita and her daughter,  Leela in this lesson creating cover art for a book using collage.

Look for three parts of this series to learn how to create pages and assemble the book, and then write a poem and complete the art books.

Led by Kaylee Coppinger-Lind, Teaching Artist

We would normally invite you into the Art Museum for exhibition viewing and hands on art-making. Instead, we'd like to offer up a simple activity, that's related to the exhibition Material Slip. In the video is a simple activity that you can do at home with materials on hand.

Engaging with Art Series
by Raechel Cook, Curator of Academic Engagement

This series will highlight some UWAM educational resources that can be accessed online and art project ideas.

The videos will demonstrate methods of teaching with art objects and part of the inquiry model adopted at the Art Museum (Observe, Question, Explore, Create and Reflect). We call this practice slow looking, deep looking, or sometimes close looking-- it's great for all disciplines!

Watch the series in the links below, more coming soon!

Family Saturday Workshop
Saturday, May 2

Take Home Art Kits & Video Tutorials

We would normally invite you into the Art Museum for artwork viewing and hands on art-making. Instead, we partnered with the students from the UW Department of Art and Art History to offer a variety of videos and tutorials based on collaged artworks from the University of Wyoming collection.

Look for the videos on the Art Museum's Facebook and Instagram on Saturday!

Special bonus for Laramie locals: On Saturday, May 2 at 10am, we're putting 50 free art kits outside of the lower level museum doors. These kits (pictured above) contain basic collage materials and are first come, first serve. Don't worry if you aren't in Laramie or don't get a kit, you can always do these activities with materials found around your home or even things found in nature.

COVID-19 Safety: The kits were prepared wearing gloves and a mask and have been in isolation for over two weeks. Please be respectful when picking up a kit. Practice social distancing, wear gloves to pick up if possible, and only take one per person.
