Time for the big Reveal!

News from the Printing House

APRIL ISSUE

Dear Reader,

It's finally time!

Detective Docherty and the Dark Curse is written and with the editor! Things look good, so I'm not expecting major rewrites and should be ready to publish the book this summer ^_^ I will have a better idea of a publication date once I get the manuscript back from the editor and will announce it as soon as possible!

In the mean time, I thought I'd share the eBook and Paperback covers.

I hope you are all safe and healthy and want you to know that I am keeping all of you in my thoughts through this difficult time.

Take care and I'll write again soon.

-WaterRaven

For those of you collecting the paperbacks. Here's a glimpse of the new cover. Consistent with the first three, I wanted to keep the stylized noir feel. Any guesses on who that might be on the cover? 😃
And here we have the full eBook cover! I couldn't say which cover is my favorite as they are both very different, but I definitely love how this cover artist created the mysterious nighttime mood that I feel is prevalent in this novel; from the dark, elegant font, to the two mysterious figures captured by moonlight. This cover is definitely a favorite among my eBook covers.

You may be wondering why I have different covers for paperback and eBook and I'm happy to explain. My initial plan was to do all of the cover art myself, with the simple noir style of the paperbacks, however, after several years of selling eBooks, it became apparent that my covers didn't match the genre style of most online urban fantasy--and honestly they weren't as striking. So, I purchased different covers for my eBooks.

In fact, Detective Docherty as a series has a third cover on the Tapas app, where it's being slow released. Because readers on that platform prefer illustrated and manga-style covers, I had to create another cover for that platform. I never imagined I'd have this many covers floating around, but with so many different platforms for publishing, I found it to be a necessity in order to reach new audiences.

Perhaps next issue I'll share the cover art I created for the series on Tapas ^_^
BOOK RECOMMENDATION
Speaking of Tapas, I wanted to take the time to recommend a favorite book of mine, which is now free to read on the Tapas App, The Forgotten Gemstone. I met the author,  Kit Daven at Ad-Astra. Ontario's Science Fiction and Fantasy

literary convention. I was immediately taken with her unique cover art and inquired after her series.

The Forgotten Gemstone is the first novel in the Xiinisi Trilogy, and is about a world builder who creates a unique world and mysteriously becomes trapped in it. As the series continues, we find out more and more about what makes this world so special.

Kit has combined fantasy and science fiction in a unique way. From self-creating demons to pan-dimensional beings, this is a rich world and fascinating story line.

With Tapas, you can read the series online or through the App, and I hope you will check it out! Please click the book cover or Read Free ^_^
