Sharpen the Saw:  I eat right, exercise, and get enough sleep (body).  I learn in lots of ways and lots of places, not just at school (brains).  I spend time with family and friends (heart).  I take time to find meaningful ways to help people (soul).  I balance all four parts of myself.

Earth day is Wednesday, April 22nd, 2020
Wednesday, April 22nd is the 50th Earth Day Celebration.  Mrs. Slats would love to share a fun earth cookie recipe for some shared family time.  The recipe can be easily adapted for food allergies by using your own cookie recipe, it can be done with rice krispie treats as well.

Send photos to newsletter@lutzprep.org of this or any other Earth Day activities your family does!

Cookie Recipe::

  • Refrigerated Sugar Cookies softened to room temp
  • Food Color - I use Wilton (in party section of Walmart)
    • Mix ½ dough with blue, ½ with green
  • Use your imagination and your hands! Take a small piece of green and blue and roll into a ball.   Place on cookie sheet with the most interesting design facing up.
  • Bake according to package directions being careful not to let them brown.
Play-Doh Option
No time to bake?  Pick up some green and blue Play-Doh and make it that way!
News from the Library
Hello to all my Library Friends!!  I have truly missed all your cute little faces these past few weeks.  Please remember to keep reading – it’s fun and important.  Reminder to parents that you can always reach out to me for reading suggestions for all ages.  So many book downloadable titles are available on Audible, Public Library, Amazon, etc.

Suggestions for Kindergarten and First Graders
This is Not My Hat by Jon Klassen is available on Youtube.  Read and talk about the book with your child.  Search for “This is Not My Hat Printables” on Google.  There are so many ideas for activities!  Pick some and have lots of fun.  This Activity Guide is a good resource to help you discuss the book with your child -
If they love this book, continue to read the sequels – I Want My Hat and the final one, We Found a Hat.
Have fun!! Judy O’Sullivan, Library Coordinator
