Dear <<First Name>>,

In the last month, nearly every school district in the nation has made changes to support students and families during the coronavirus pandemic. To better understand these changes, TT reviewed the websites of 60 districts in 30 states. We wanted to know what information and resources districts are providing. We also wanted to help educators encourage change in their districts’ approaches where necessary.

That’s why we created our new resource, “District Responses to Coronavirus: Examples to Follow.” Based on our research, we developed seven questions to ask about your district’s response to this crisis. For each, we offer a brief summary of our findings, recommendations for how educators can encourage additional support for their students and families, and examples of districts providing exemplary resources in that area.

Questions include:
  • How is your district organizing information about coronavirus?
  • How is your district ensuring that all families can access information and resources?
  • How is your district balancing student well-being with distance learning goals?
  • What resources are provided to address students’ and families’ physical and mental health needs?
  • What resources are provided or recommended to support families facing food insecurity?
  • What information or resources are provided for students who receive additional support at school?
  • How has your district tailored information and resources to your students?
We know that this is a challenging time for educators. We also know that many of you are already dedicating precious time and effort to advocating for the students in your care. We hope that this resource will help you recognize what your district is doing well and advocate for changes in your district’s response as necessary.

As always, we’re grateful for all you do for students,
