FAMILY CAMPOUT RE-IMAGINED
Friday, May 1, 2020
The beloved family campout is of course canceled for this year. But families are invited to camp at home in their living room or backyard, and to share about it with each other! Here are some fun tips from REI to inspire ways to make this a memorable event: HERE
Please share other ideas you have for making it special HERE, and Cassie will share these with the other families beforehand! Post pictures of your in-home adventure on the church Facebook page, or if you are not into sharing that stuff publicly, then send the pics to Cassie to add to a shared Google drive that will only be available to participants. Kids can chat about their adventures when they gather for Zoom Church School on Sunday, May 3.
COFFEE HOUR IN A NEW WAY: THE ZOOM WAY Starting tomorrow, two opportunities for catching up!

Join us for a cup of coffee, or your favorite beverage. (Actually, bring your own.)
We'll chat about everything, and nothing at all. P.J.'s welcome!
You can email me at david@stpauls.org and I will send you printable class notes.
(Notes are not required.)
Pastor Kay’s “Episcopal 101” class this Sunday, via Zoom at 10:00 a.m.
The challenges presented by our current situation also provide an opportunity - if you were already attending class, it’s resuming; and if you haven’t attended class, but you’re interested in learning more about how and why Episcopalians worship, pray, relate to the Bible, do ethics, and approach the world, you’re in luck! Because we won’t be having a visit from a bishop at the originally-scheduled time, we have the option of continuing this class a while longer.
This week, we'll begin to talk about sacraments, and specifically the sacrament of baptism. If you're so inclined, you're invited to prepare for class by watching one or more of these movies: "Ryan's Well", available on Amazon video; "Whale Rider", available in several places; and/or "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" See you on Sunday morning!
Moms' Gathering (Weekly Online)
Saturday 4/18 at 10:00 a.m.
via Zoom (see link to join meeting)
Link: https://zoom.us/j/91879754985 Join other moms from St. Paul's for a weekly time of sharing the joys and challenges in this new season of parenting.
Dear St. Paul's friends,
My heart is filled with joy at your response to our request for gift cards. We have received an outpouring of love from you to the Sunday Supper community! In addition to gift cards, we have also received homemade masks and bottles of homemade sanitizer too. Thank you all.
We continue to serve a sack lunch & take-home groceries each Sunday afternoon. Gift cards are still needed because so many organizations serving meals have had to close: $10 cards to any these fast-food restaurants or grocery stores are terrific: Subway, McDonald's, Burger King, Taco Bell, Papa John's, Round Table Pizza, del Taco, Albertsons and Stater Brothers.
Plastic food cards can be ordered on-line through ralphs.com and delivered to St. Paul's. They can also be dropped through the mail slot at church or ordered on-line as ecards & sent to me at 1sandib@gmail.com.
Bus passes and gas cards are also needed. Bus passes can be ordered on-line here https://passsales.octa.net/ and sent directly to St. Paul’s.
We are also in need of the following items:
Small cans of Vienna sausages with pop-top.
Small cans of Tuna with pop-top (or Tuna in a bag)
Small cans of deviled ham with a pop-top if available
Boxes of individual soft granola/snack bars(Costco has a large box that is perfect)
Juice boxes
Large cans of chicken (no pop-top needed)
Large cans of tuna (no pop-top needed)
Small pods of Jif Peanut Butter (I call then pucks or pods.)
Small individual containers of fruit & applesauce
Canned meals: Ravioli, Beefaroni, Spaghettios, etc (store brand is fine)
Individual snack crackers with PB or Cheese
Bless you all,
Sandi Benson
Sunday Supper Director
PRAYERS
Creator God,
whose Spirit moved over the face of the waters,
who gathers the seas into their places
and directs the courses of the rivers,
who sends rain upon the earth
that it should bring forth life:
we praise you for the gift of water.
Redeemer God,
who spared Noah and creatures of every kind
from the waters of the flood,
who led your people over dry land through the sea
and across the Jordan to the land of promise,
who marks our adoption as children
with the sign of water:
we thank you for the gift of water.
Sustaining God,
create in us such a sense of wonder and delight
in this and all your gifts,
that we might receive them with gratitude,
care for them with love
and generously share them with all your creatures,
to the honor and glory of your holy name. Amen (From the National Council of Churches [NCC] Earth Day Sunday 2003 resource packet,
“Waters of Life: Enough for All.” Written by Rev. John Paarlberg.)
This week, we remember those among us who suffer the pain of illness, fear, or loss especially; Sue, Sylvia, Royce, Doriel, Holland, Gail, Nathan, Mary, Inez, Diane, Fred, Kathy, James, Emily, Rich, Sue, Colleen, Bob, Susan, Jim, and Jean.
We remember all healthcare and emergency workers, those who have lost their livelihood, those who are ill, those who are alone and those who are afraid.
Give them courage and strength during the days ahead, may they know your love and grace. Amen
